Effective as of 13 October 2026
This privacy policy applies to the Mebbo app for mobile devices (the "Application"), created by André Crous (the "Service Provider") as a free, ad-free study aid for the Swedish citizenship civics test (medborgarskapsprovet). This policy explains what information the Application collects and how it is used.
The Application does not require you to create an account, and does not collect your name, email address or Google account details in order for you to use it. Your study progress, chapter completion, practice history, and test-date settings are stored locally on your device, using the device's local storage. The Service Provider has no access to this data. If backup is turned on in your device's settings, Android includes it in your device backup to your own Google account, so that your progress and any purchase can be restored on a new phone or after reinstalling. That backup is handled by Google under its terms, and on Android 9 or later with a screen lock it is end-to-end encrypted, so neither the Service Provider nor Google can read it. You can turn backup off in your device's settings.
Uninstalling the Application deletes this locally stored data. You can also delete your answers, practice and exam history, and test date at any time with "Rensa min historik" on the Jag tab (see Data Deletion below).
To be explicit about what this Application does not do:
Every chapter lesson includes an illustration. All illustrations are bundled directly with the Application and load with no network request at all. No external image service is contacted, and no information about which chapter you are viewing is disclosed to any third party.
If you set a test date, the Application can remind you as the date approaches. These reminders are scheduled on your device and shown by your device. They are not sent from a server, and your test date is not sent anywhere. Android asks for your permission before the first reminder, and you can turn reminders off in your device's settings at any time.
If you choose to make an in-app purchase to unlock additional practice content, the purchase is processed by RevenueCat, a third-party purchase-management service, working together with Google Play, the app store platform through which you downloaded the Application. RevenueCat and Google Play process transaction information (such as purchase confirmation, transaction ID, and purchase date) in order to verify and record your purchase. The Service Provider receives a record of which product was purchased and when, in order to grant you the correct access within the Application, but does not receive your payment card details, which are handled entirely by Google Play.
To know whether you have bought anything, the Application contacts RevenueCat each time it starts, whether or not you have made a purchase. It identifies itself with a random identifier created when the Application is first opened; the identifier is not linked to your name, email address or Google account by the Service Provider, and the Application never sends RevenueCat your name or email address. With it, RevenueCat receives your device model and manufacturer, Android version, language settings and the Application's version, and sees your IP address, which it uses to estimate your country and then discards. If backup is turned on in your device's settings, the identifier can be included in your Google account's backup from the first launch, and after a purchase it is also saved with Google's Block Store, so that the purchase can be found again after a reinstall. RevenueCat processes this on the Service Provider's behalf and does not use it for advertising.
The Service Provider can see counts of purchases, and the estimated country, in RevenueCat's dashboard. This is not tracking of how you use the Application: your answers, reading and exam results never leave your device.
You can review RevenueCat's own privacy practices at revenuecat.com/privacy, and Google Play's at policies.google.com/privacy.
Some buttons in the Application open other websites in your device's browser: the official audio recordings and study material from UHR (www.uhr.se), UHR's and Migrationsverket's information about the test and citizenship, this policy and the terms, and Mebbo's page on Google Play. The Application sends no information to these sites. Once a page opens, the site you visit receives what any website receives from a browser, such as your IP address, under its own privacy policy.
After your first practice exam, the Application may ask Google Play to show its rating dialog once. The dialog is Google's. Any rating or review you leave goes to Google Play under Google's terms, and the Application is not told whether you rated it or what you wrote.
Mebbo: Your answers, practice and exam history, and test date are stored only on your device (and in your device backup, if you use one). To delete them, open Mebbo, go to the Jag tab, choose Rensa min historik and confirm. This deletes them immediately, on your device, with no need to contact anyone. It keeps your language choice, where you stopped reading in each chapter, and a marker showing that the rating dialog has already been requested. It also keeps a record of any purchase, with a timestamp that protects time-limited passes against changes to the device's clock, so that paid access is not lost. Uninstalling the Application deletes all of it.
Purchase records: If you have made an in-app purchase, a record of that transaction (product purchased, transaction ID, purchase date) is held by RevenueCat and Google Play, not by the Service Provider directly. To request deletion of this data, contact RevenueCat or Google Play directly using the links below, or contact the Service Provider at mebbo.app@proton.me and the Service Provider will pass on a deletion request on your behalf. Deleting this data does not affect entitlement to a purchase already made; it only concerns the underlying transaction record. Please include the order number from your Google Play receipt (it begins with "GPA.") so that the purchase can be found.
Because the Application does not collect personal data on its own servers, there is no server-side account data for the Service Provider to retain or delete on your behalf. Your local study data remains on your device until you delete it with "Rensa min historik" or uninstall the Application. Purchase records related to any in-app purchase are retained by RevenueCat and Google Play in accordance with their own retention practices, referenced above.
The Application is not directed at children under the age of 16, consistent with the age requirement in the Terms and Conditions. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect any information from children under 16. The Service Provider holds no personal data about any user, including children, on its own systems.
The Service Provider values your trust in providing any information through the Application and takes reasonable steps to protect it. Because study progress is stored locally on your own device rather than on a server operated by the Service Provider, the security of that data also depends on the security of your own device.
This section covers the website mebbo.se, not the app. The website is a static site hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log visitors' IP addresses as part of normal hosting. Mebbo does not have access to those logs.
The fonts (Newsreader and Manrope) are served from the website itself, and the website loads no third-party resources: no scripts, analytics tools, embeds, external fonts or images. We use no analytics.
The website has no accounts, and Mebbo's own code sets no cookies and uses no browser local storage. The sample quiz on the home page keeps your answers in the page's memory while you answer and does not save them. Links to external sites, such as UHR and Migrationsverket, open in a new tab and are governed by those sites' own terms.
The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. Material changes will be reflected by posting the updated policy here with a new effective date.
This Privacy Policy is effective as of 13 October 2026.
By using the Application, you consent to the processing of information as described in this Privacy Policy.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact the Service Provider at mebbo.app@proton.me.
